Counting down the days...

My belly is huge, baby girl has dropped into my pelvis and we are nearing our due date. We are on the home stretch... counting down the days. We are definitely anxious, excited and nervous too. Especially me... for labor and delivery. Up until now I thought for sure we were scheduling a c-section, but since that is no longer necessary I guess I'll have to wing it... AND get the epidural (thanks to all my friends for that bit of sound advice)!

I've got a few videos queued up... Labor & delivery, Breastfeeding... I feel like I'm cramming for an exam the night before. Don't worry, I won't give you my Dunmar Movie Review on those! (unless special requests are made)

We'll try to get a message out to you as soon as she is born. Jon will be making a few phone calls from the hospital and will send text messages or updates on Facebook. We'll definitely post the news and pictures here too as soon as I can get to the computer.

Only a matter of days now...wish us luck!

Baby's Nursery

We finally completed the nursery this week. Derek Krueger installed a small crown molding for us one month ago and Tony Bongratz completed the painting and border at the same time. We picked a color theme that was girly but not pink. It's called Mulberry by Kidsline and we saw it at Babies R Us. The baby's closet was finished on Wednesday 10/15 and the crib came on Friday 10/17. Jon bought a book shelf and put it together this past weekend and today we are looking at a completed nursery. We are ready to move baby in! Now we just wait for her arrival...

The Critics Picks

These two critics (that's us) have devised our own movie rating scale. We deal in thumbs (not stars). Since we are two people the best possible rating can only be a 4 Thumbs Up and the worst possible rating can only be a 4 Thumbs Down, and the range of thumbs in between. So with that being said the rating goes something like this:

4 Thumbs UP = EXCELLENT, MUST RENT.

3 Thumbs Up = Very good, consider renting this one.

2 Thumbs Up = Good, consider renting this one.

1 Thumb Up = So-so. Only rent if nothing else on the shelf.

1 Thumb Down = Bad movie. You are not missing anything.

2 Thumbs Down = Among some of the worst movies ever made.

3 Thumbs Down = Don’t waste your time.

4 Thumbs Down = NEVER RENT THIS ONE. If you've already seen it, well then we are sorry!

National Treasure: Book of Secrets (Nicolas Cage) - 3 Thumbs up, good storyline, great scenery, fun movie

The Bucket List (Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman) - 3 Thumbs up, good storyline, good characters

Sicko (Documentary) - 3 Thumbs up, interesting and should see to form your own opinions about the health care system

The Incredibles (Animation) - 2 Thumbs up, cute fun family movie

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle (John Cho, Kal Penn) - 3 Thumbs up, Not a family movie but very entertaining and there's a funny Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser) cameo

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (John Cho, Kal Penn) - 3 Thumbs up, funny George Bush impersonator and another Neil Patrick Harris cameo

The Game Plan (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) - 2 Thumbs up, cute little story and we LOVE The Rock anyway

Semi - Pro (Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson) - 4 thumbs down, not worth the rent, if you want to see Will Ferrell in a funny movie rent Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

The Curse of El Charro (Us! and no one you would know) - 3 Thumbs down, BUT ONLY because we are in it...if they cut out our scene we'd give it 4 Thumbs down. Horrible flick. Still, the director managed to include a lesbian shower scene and midget bartenders... weird!

The Brave One (Jodie Foster) - 2 Thumbs up, Talk about taking matters into your own hands. Good movie.

Fool's Gold (Kate Hudson, Mathew McConaughey) - 1 Thumb up, I like the scenery, if you know what I mean!

Daddy Boot Camp

Jon completed his 3-hour Daddy Boot Camp education course at the Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital at Shea. Our good friend Tim Knight was also in the class with Jon. There were about 16 guys in his class and all but one had babies on the way. One class participant was just along for the ride with his buddy (that's a committed friend)! They learned how to change baby's diaper, how to bathe the baby until the umbilical cord falls off (I know, weird huh?), and a lot of safety tips including securing furniture to walls. Jon graduated with a t-shirt, certificate and a lot of knowledge that will surely help us out the first weeks we bring home Baby Dunmar!

Baby Belly Photography

Pictures capture a unique moment and when we look at them we are reminded of a special time in our lives. I always knew that when I was pregnant I would want to capture this moment with some pregnancy photos of my big round belly. Sadly when I landed myself on bed rest I didn't think I would be able to get this done. Fortunately we have an amateur photographer in the family! My cousin Colleen Miller has always been interested in photography and she has a great talent for taking pictures. I asked if she would come to the house to take some pictures of us and she was more than happy to do so. Jon and I are so thankful for her time and the pictures came out beautiful. So, with that said, here are a couple of our favorite ones.

Horror Movie Extras

About 5 years ago, Jon and I were hanging out at Coach & Willies downtown Phoenix after a Suns game. A movie producer came into the bar looking for volunteers to be movie extras. We decided to check it out. The movie was called The Curse of El Charro, and if you ask me could be among the category of "worst movies ever made". However, this is the movie we are in! I figured they'd cut our 3 second part for sure, but they didn't. Not only are we clearly in the movie, but also our names made the "Featuring" credits (see both sides of list near bottom, mine listed under my maiden name "Staar"). I took pictures of the TV so I can prove it to you. Thanks to Netflix, we didn't have to spend any money on renting this movie, and we only lost about to hours of our life on this crappy film!

I say YEAH to Netflix! (revised)

You might be asking yourself, what does one do while on bed rest for 12 weeks? Contrary to popular belief I have not been watching much daytime TV. Well, maybe the occasional Family Feud; but no Soaps and no Sitcoms. I have been entertained by visits from friends and relatives, reading baby books and trashy magazines, keeping my brain tuned with sudoku and other crossword activity books, occasional floats in the pool (approved by my doctor to take the stress off my achy limbs) and finally I've been watching MOVIES!

Two sets of close friends went in on a gift subscription to Netflix for us. Jon and I have been enjoying 3 new (new to us) movies about every couple days. I say YEAH to Netflix! Since I am on bed rest and can only leave the house to go to my doctor’s appointments it is extremely convenient to rent my movies via the Internet. Netflix is so simple. You can browse the catalog of movie titles from new releases to old flicks in all genres and select which ones you want to add to your queue. Then the top three choices on the list are sent to your mailbox. After you are done watching them you just simply return them in the pre-paid envelope provided by Netflix and drop them in the outgoing mail. As soon as the Netflix distribution center receives your returned movies they mail out the next three movies in your queue. Movies are received within 1 day. It is so fast.

If you are bored with HBO, Cinemax and Showtime movies, then you might consider getting caught up on your movies too and getting a Netflix subscription. I hear that Blockbuster offers something similar.
